Weather: foggy, clearing in the evening.

Fighter Command Serviceable Aircraft as at 0900 hours:

  • Blenheim – 66
  • Spitfire – 249
  • Hurricane – 375
  • Defiant – 21
  • Total – 711

There was relatively little activity this day. A few reconnaissance sorties were flown over the Channel, otherwise there was little to report except for some bombing raids in the north and over Wales that evening and further propaganda leaflet drops. 261 sorties were flown during which neither side suffered any losses.

Warm, cloudless, visibility excellent. “B” Flight at readiness. “A” Flight available. Practices included Fighter Attacks – tactical exercises with no. 23 (Blenheim) Squadron and no. 229 (Hurricane) Squadron.
